Check your Tires Weekly.  Heat and Cold can cause poor fuel efficiency.  Make sure your spare is inflated and in good condition.  Get several opinions whether your tires need replaced or not.  You would be surprised what dealerships will tell you.

Lights should be checked or adjusted when out of aligned.  No water should be sitting in lens.  Check signals, headlights, fog, brake, emergency and keep spare bulbs in glovebox.

Windshield wipers need replaced every year.  Look for cracks, brittleness or poor visibility.  Small repair shops may charge you less for the part than a dealership.  Shop around.

Check all your fluids monthly.  Carry a gallon of water in your trunk during the summer incase your car overheats.  If it does drive with the heater on this will cool the radiator down till you can get to a gas station.

Exhaust Leaks is poisonous carbon monoxide and can get inside your car.  You will feel drowsy and easily fall asleep at the wheel.  Start your engine and listen for unusual sounds coming from your exhaust, especially listen for sounds under your car.  Get this fixed right away.

Brakes need to be checked twice a year.  When coming to a complete stop notice how the pedal feels and listen for any noises that don’t sound normal.  Check your brake fluid levels.

Suspension and Steering can be checked by listening for any rattles or feeling a looseness in the steering.

Emergency Kits contain water, flashlight, flares reflective triangles and jumper cables.

Horns are important when you need them so check this and make sure you have yours working properly.

Keep extra fuses in your car.  Find your fuse box and purchase necessary fuses before a long trip.
